How Helium is structured

A quick reference to the core assets and utilities you will manage within the wallet.

HNT

Core ecosystem token

The foundational asset of the Helium network. Used to generate Data Credits and serves as the primary reference point for overall ecosystem value.

MOBILE

5G subnetwork token

The governance and utility token for the Helium 5G network. Mined by 5G Hotspots providing cellular coverage.

IOT

LoRaWAN subnetwork token

The governance and utility token for the IoT network. Mined by LoRaWAN Hotspots providing sensor connectivity.

Data Credits (DC)

Network utility

Used to pay for network usage, fees, and asserting locations. Distinct from transferable tokens due to their specific utility role.

Helium on Solana

Helium ecosystem assets operate within Solana's SPL token infrastructure. This wallet uses Solana RPC endpoints to reliably read balances, process instructions, and broadcast your locally-signed transactions directly to the network.

Keys remain encrypted locally on your machine at all times.

What this wallet supports

Clear definition of operational capabilities for assets directly handled within the application.

View balances (HNT, MOBILE, IOT, SOL, USDC)
Send & Receive transfers
Multi-account management
Address labeling (aliases)
Verification workflow (SHA256 & signatures)
Data Credits (View-only context)
In-app staking (Not supported)

Data Credits (DC) Explained

Data Credits are the unit of exchange required to use the Helium network. They are created by burning HNT and are strictly non-transferable. Their primary role is utility—paying for transaction fees, onboarding devices, or asserting locations.

Because of their specialized role, this wallet treats DC as a view-only metric to provide network usage context without implying they can be sent or traded like standard SPL tokens.

Always confirm the token context before interacting with on-chain protocols.

For Hotspot Operators

Manage infrastructure earnings cleanly. Organize multiple accounts for different deployment batches, maintain distinct histories, and separate personal funds from operational treasury.

  • Organize accounts for different locations or fleets
  • Keep accounting histories separate and clean
  • Verify desktop builds safely on trusted administrative machines
